November 02, 2001 - Commodore Ballroom, Vancouver, BC

Yes boys and girls, BW shot their new video last night in Vancouver during the show. Here's how it went:

Before the show they filmed a model running around the inside of the venue from the main floor to the second floor. Then they filmed the crowd for a while and they filmed the girl running her hand through her hair about 40 times. She was wearing a red tank top and jeans with a long necklace hanging down, she also had an arm band tatoo around her upper arm.

For those of you who don't know, the Commodore Ballroom is an old venue that has been bought and restored by The House of Blues, it's absolutely gorgeous.

Joydrop was great as usual.

Ian came on the stage and told everyone that they were filming a video and that everyone would be in it and then they started with Inhale. I think Look What I found was next and then Ian said they would need to start filming the video.

Ian: Watch me lip-sync, I'm fucking amazing.

They start playing Knee Deep and Ian is nowhere near the mic and so he misses the first line. He's laughing his ass off of course. He then misses "when you're on my shoulder" and he stalls and looks at Brian and says "hey, you're on my shoulder", hilarious. He then misses the last few lines.

Ian: That was fucking amazing. This big fucking dude had his shirt off and he had bigger titties than a playboy playmate!!!Let's get back to the show.

They perform another song and then it's back to the video.

Ian: OK guys, I need lots of energy from you guys. We're gonna do this again. I'm so sorry we have to do this to you guys, I feel like I'm ripping you off or something. You know even if the tv people hate the video and I'm the only one who sees it, I love you guys for doing this.

They start the song again and Ian starts to pretend jerk-off with his hand jerking in front of his guitar and the crowd is laughing like mad, the director of the video is getting pretty pissed at this point. They do the song and Ian is goofing off, totally hilarious.

Ian: Tell me it's ok that we are doing this, I feel like such a shit. Common guys, I'm sorry. (The crowd goes wild)

They continue with the show and Ian is doing a vocal and guitar intro to all the songs, very different from the previous night.

They do a few more songs.

Ian: OK, we're gonna do this song for real now, the way it was meant to be done.

Knee Deep is performed live and a guy with a steady cam films Ian directly on stage as opposed to the mechanical arm which filmed the lip-sync stuff. The arm would fly in from the crowd and then have the band in the corner of the screen with the crowd in full view.

Ian: Wow, I forgot how much I love that song, thanks for reminding me.

On with the show. Ian did not go down to the crowd like he did the previous night, he only went and layed down in the crowd for the last song.

2 encores: Another Brick in The Wall
Head in The Girl
The Oaf

Ian: My manager has visited us for these Vancouver shows. I love that man. I love his wife even more (huge laughter from the crowd). This song is for her, it's her birthday today (The Oaf).

Immigrant Song (by 54-40, the previous night it was from Nelly Furtado)

Ian: It's gonna be fucking mayhem up here. At the very least it's gonna be fucking fun.

All right, Immigrant Song:
Joydrop came out and Tara wailed to the song then she broke into Beatiful Like You and Ian mirrored her, hilarious. Then he brought out the guitarist from the Matt Good Band. Then he had his guitar guy take over. Then he ended up in the crowd. Then DAVE summersaulted into the crowd to surf for a while. he dissappeared until the final fairwell. They also brought out this dude named Owen who "gets us anything we need". He was smacking drum sticks together.

OK, this guy Owen is the one I talked to before the show and I asked how I could thank the band for their music and he said that I could yell loudly. Then he said that he didn't know the band well enough to tell them that someone wanted to say thank you. Nice Bullshit buddy.

BW bids fairwell and then Ian comes back out and throws his shirt into the crowd. That shirt must be 30 pieces now.

That's it boys & girls. Great night was had by all.
